OleMiss Football

Every fall Scott and I head down to University of Mississippi to watch a couple football games. His grandparents live in Oxford thus his mother graduated from OleMiss, his sister is finishing her Pharmacy degree, and Scott attended most of his undergrad there as well.

Normally tailgating at a football game would include some cars or trucks with chairs around them and some food. At OleMiss there is no tailgating, there is "The Grove". On a typical game day, you arrive at "The Grove" a couple hours before the game to eat and socialize, and then you go back to "The Grove" after the game for the same thing. It is a grassy area on campus where no cars are allowed...only tents. There is also a dress code. The girls wear dresses and high heels and the guys wear a dress shirt and slacks. Now, it is a little more relaxed once you have graduated, but jeans and t-shirts are absolutely not accepted. The only other schools I have seen dress like this to a football game are Alabama and Auburn so it must be a southern thing.

Anyways the past two weekends Scott and I have driven down to Oxford and attended the Alabama game and the Arkansas game. His family has had a tent in the grove since Scott was in junior high so we had a lot of fun visiting with his extended family and his friends that attended school with him there. We also got to stay with his grandparents, and it was really nice to spend some time with them as well.
