A Little Update

A few things have happened since I last posted. One of the main things is that Scott's grandfather Dadee passed away a little over a week ago. Dadee had actually been here being treated for cancer and the last visit he had made over New Years was not good. His blood was not good enough to do the chemo treatment. So they put him in the hospital here and after about two weeks he went to be with the Lord. I know dying is a sad thing, but it was so refreshing to hear someone that is a Christian actually be excited about it. A couple days before he died, we went up to the hospital and all he kept saying was "I didn't know this was going to be so wonderful (dying)"...he was ready to be with his Lord.

So Dadee passed away the day we were to leave for our one year anniversary trip to Colorado. This was hard for Scott and I because we had been planning this trip for a couple months and had been so excited. Not that we wanted to make light of Dadee's situation, it was the feeling of not knowing what to do with our plans for over two weeks. When Dadee was admitted to the hospital over New Year's we didn't know whether to cancel the trip or reschedule. But the Lord knows best and we know He was keeping us from leaving for a reason! And we were able to push our vacation back the days we needed. So we headed to Charleston, MS were Dadee was buried and then to Oxford for the funeral. My parents came down to Oxford for the funeral as well which was so nice of them! It meant a lot to Scott and his family. We were also able to give my parents the grand tour of the town:)

We then headed to Colorado straight from Oxford after the funeral. And we had a wonderful time! It was so nice to be out of town, away from the phone, and away from work. We even left Izzy with the parents!:) We got to do some fun stuff while we were there. We did some...err...a lot... of shopping at the outlet malls in silverthorne. We went snowboarding...mainly Scott did. We went to Beaver Creek one night, ate dinner and went ice skating. The last day we went to Breckenridge and walked around. We went up this new Gondola they just built there to get up to some basin for skiing. It was free to just ride it and that day it was snowing a bunch so it was beautiful! We ate at the famous Blue Spruce Inn in Frisco and of course the Butterhorn Bakery which were both my favorite eating places on the trip! Enjoy the pics...

A bunch of these are being built past Salina, KS(windmills?)

Our condo in Frisco...highly recommend it!

A breathtaking view

Too much shopping puts Scott in a bad mood:)

Don't be fooled...I'm scared of heights and not very good

Here's the good one...

happy anniversary. I'm glad you were still able to have a good time. This same thing happenned to us when Brandon's grandfather passed away right before a trip we had planned to St. Louis for our anniversary and Johnathan's wedding. It was disappointing, but sounds like you made the best of it.

So glad you guys got to get away! Those times are so needed and SO much fun. We went to Colorado every year together when we were dating and the first years of our marriage. Great memories.
